Vision: We believe that racial and ethnic diversity is integral and essential to the health and well-being of our Palouse Area community. Palouse EDJE - Empowering Diversity, Justice, & Equity - is a group of citizens from many walks of life who meet, discuss, and actively work to improve, uphold, and maintain equity in the community.
Mission: Palouse EDJE is committed to initiating and advancing systemic change that promotes racial, ethnic, and cultural equity for every person in the community in all aspects of life, including institutional spheres such as social, political, educational, and economic organizations.
Values: Palouse EDJE members come from all backgrounds and ages, drawing on life experiences to exchange ideas, learn from differences, and work collaboratively in decision-making processes. We use intersectional perspective, acknowledging that race, ethnicity, class, gender, identity, sexual orientation, and ability are all intertwined.
Goals (From our Articles of Incorporation):
We work to instill the values of access, inclusion, equity, diversity, participation, and human rights in this and future generations. Members are intergenerational; we work to engage all ages, young and old, children, young adults, and college students in our activities.
We celebrate ethnic diversity of our populace by holding community-wide events where we can become more informed and better understand one another. We work to center the people directly impacted by the problems we address, both within Palouse EDJE and the broader community.
We provide educational opportunities by welcoming guest speakers to share their experiences with us.
We honor diversity with displays of public art, sharing music, and other expressions of culture.
We work to cultivate solid and sustainable partnerships with other groups, organizations, and individuals that share the same vision and goals, maintaining mutually beneficial relationships.
